Xperia X8

The Android-based phone, surprised few days ago as the "Shakira" is the new Xperia X8 and has officially been announced by Sony Ericsson in a press release. The device brings a mid-size and mid specs on the Xperia line and extends "the range of the most entartaining smartphones".
The Xperia X8 is the latest member of the Xperia collection and will run Android 1.6, a 3-inch capacitive touchscreen at 320x480 pixels (HGVA), a 3.2 MP camera and video recording functionality, 600MHz processor, microSD up to 16GB plus a memory card of 2GB, 3.5 mm audio jack, USB support and Wi-Fi.
You can consider this Android phone as a perfect solution for enjoying multimedia entertainment because you get SE's social (Timescape) and media (Mediascape) applications, many other games, video, internet and more to experience on the 3-inch screen.
It will arrive in selected markets from Q3 2010 in a choice of colors: white, dark blue/white, aqua blue/white, pink/white, silver/white and is expected to cost around €259 ($318).

If you are somewhere in Australia, prepar to get your hand on the Xperia X10. The Australian carrier, Telstra, announced in a press release the launch of the Android device starting with May 4th. You can get it for FREE by signing up for a 2 year contract for $110 per month (australian dollars).

The MWC in Barcelona started for Sony Ericsson who announced their new Android's smartphones: Xperia X10 mini and X10 mini pro, both compact versions of the Xperia 10. That's the experience offered by SE, but in a smaller form. Probably they are coming with a new line of smartphones.

This is a battle of giants, basically the best two Android phones face eachother (at least until the Nexus One crashes the party). I bet when Xperia X10 will come out it will be hard to chose between it and the Motorola DROID that's why a good comparisson is needed.

We all wondered when will the Xperia X10 be released on the market, the most accurate date everyone agreed on was January-February 2010. That's pretty vague for our taste, that's why this small snippet of text foud on Xperia's page on play.com made our day: "Due for release on 18/01/2010".
