Droid 2 'Star Wars' edition rumored to be launch in early August Posted on: July 22, 2010 [Source]
Perhaps you got used to hear new rumors or gossips regarding Android phones. It's the case of the Motorola Droid 2 too. According to one "trusted source" of Engadget, it looks like we are going to see the successor of the first Droid coming on the stage earlier than the knowing date of August 23th. It seems that will be a special version with the character R2-D2 on the back; a Star Wars edition.
As for this early launch rumored to come on August 12th, it is going to be a "soft" one with no big fuss around the event, 'cause all the marketing efforts are scheduled to focus for a later party after the August 23th. This special edition shouldn't come as a surprise, considering that the DROID name is owned by the creator George Lucas in the movie Star Wars with the R2-D2 probably the most famous droid around.
And because the rumors doens't stop here, we also found out that the Droid 2 will be carrying Android 2.2. when is expected to drop in August. This time the information comes from a Droid Life's tipster who apparently spent some time with the device, describing an existing keyboard as "phenomenal" and a "more noticeably more responsive" 1.0GHz processor.
Apparently, it was "Droid 2 time" for some juicy details regarding its launch, but nothing official or confirmed by Verizon or Motorola. What about you? Would you go for a R2-D2 version with the little white droid or not?
