HTC EVO 4G Review
Posted on: May 20, 2010 [Source]

We are pretty sure everyone loving technology world heard about HTC EVO 4G. And if we consider the attention and the publicity received lately, it's a normal thing. Only 2 weeks left until its launch and we already seen some reviews made for it. Most of them giving the EVO 4G the highest score. It's interesting to know. Would it be an unforgetten device? One of the most impressive and performant smartphone ever made?

We won't deny HTC is a powerful company producing high-end device like: Nexus One, HTC HD2, Desire or Droid Incredible. And now HTC EVO 4G. The first one using 4G network. Frankly, the EVO is a beautiful smartphone with great specs, nice design, a device which will be noticed by everyone. But, should we take for credit all those excellent words about it? Let's review its important parts and make an impression based on certain facts.

- as most of other smartphones, the EVO features also the AMOLED display which needs no introduction. Its impressive 4.3 inch offers clarity, brightness and feels good to the touch. If you'd expected a glass display, well it's not. Anyway, it looks pretty good.
- comparing to Nexus One or HD2, its camera is a better one. The 8 megapixel autofocus with dual LED flash does qualitative pictures, although it lacks a dedicated camera button. As for the video quality, 720 p, is more than decent, so, be sure you'll take clear and vivid shots.
- we wouldn't expect something else rather than a well integrated and easy-to-use Sense UI for this Android 2.1 device. Maybe we'll see an 2.2 update soon? Who knows.
- the battery life. Yes, this is one of the most important part. How long can you keep it uncharged? Engadget's experience with the EVO took about three hours and 13 minutes using continuously as a 4G hotspot. But apparently it wasn't fully charged when they begin playing with it. It had been in use for other two hours and four minutes. So, the battery stays alive for about 5 hours of intense usage? Not good.
- there were some reviews focused on Sprint 4G performance. Indeed the 4G network offers a better wireless connection than 3G or 2G and faster data speeds. But the EVO's 4G access isn't just about the Hotspot capability. The WIMAX radio can be controlled separately of the CDMA / EV-DO, Bluetooth and WiFi radios. You might have many advantages with 4G, but if you wanna save some battery you better turn it off. Plus, the 4G advantage isn't yet available in most cities.
- as for the storage, HTC EVO comes with 8GB microSD card included which can be expandable up to 32GB. Not too impressive, actually is kind of decent if we consider DROID Incredible's capacity supporting up to 40GB so, it could be better.

So, there are the most important parts of HTC EVO. Engadget called it "one of the best smartphones ever made". Would you consider this affirmation true or not? We'll let you make your own opinion and called it as you like. Anyway, we have a powerful HTC handset ready to go out soon.
