EXCLUSIVE: Motorola Sholes Passes FCC
Posted on: October 16, 2009

While we were browsing the FCC recent aproved handsets we came across this file from Motorola that was aproved yesterday, Oct. 15. As you can see in the above picture they missed a spot when they tried to erase every trace of the most hiped Android phone. They forgot this "Sholes" mention in the Measurment results.

As you already know "Sholes" is the codename for Motorola DROID. The DEXT / CLIQ also had the codename "Morisson" while they were in development so this is not a clue the phone will be named Sholes. On the contrary, we are sure it will be named Motorola DROID.

Usually after a phone passes FCC it is announced in the folowing days, so it's time to keep your ears open to whatever Verizon has to say in the next few days. Usually Verizon is pretty quiet with new phone releases, let's hope it's not the case this time.

PS: We know there was another FCC file that was supposed to be the Sholes at the end of September, but there was no mention of "Sholes" or "Android" on that documentation, so we guess that was just a regular Motorola phone.

Later: Since many users don't think this is true here's the FCC file to see for yourself: FCC (.pdf)
And the rest of the docs, including "Grant Date: 10/15/2009": here
