Droid Incredible Review Posted on: April 19, 2010 [Source]
We are pretty sure everybody loving Android smartphones and everything related to this area have heard about Droid Incredible. At this moment we know the most important details about it: it follows HTC's standard formula running Android 2.1 with Sense UI, a super fast processor and lands to Verizon.
It ressembles with HTC Desire(think of it like a twin brother) with the internals and screen technology as the Nexus One, but its own personality. Could this one be as incredible as its name says? The best Android phone you can buy in the US for now?
If you take a closer attention to the Droid Incredible, you'll see it's a sophosticated device, with a modern design, a masculine edge we saw at the Motorola Droid, a beautiful handset drawing a strong attraction amongts many Android lovers. But let's see the most important parts of it, what can do best and not.
- as no surprise, the display reminds us of Nexus One's screen, because they are practically identical, sharing the same issues. The 3.7-inch capacitive AMOLED has better and brigher colors than traditional LED screens, with (probably) too much screen visibility in the bright daylight.
- the camera - 8 megapixels with a twin-LED flash is one of the highest resolution smartphones shooters on this market. And, for sure, succeeds in taking some great photos, particulary in daylight settings, clear and reflecting pretty good the reality. Sharing a fairly high resolution video too; up to 800X480.
- the sound quality is highly performant, as muchs as the same one we found on the Motorola Droid. The earpiece on this device is loud and clear, while the speakerphone does an excellent job on conversations/video audio playback.
- as for the storage, Droid Incredible comes with 8GB internal memory plus a MicroSD slot which can handle an additional 32GB, giving you enough space (40 GB) to store your personal documents. Here you might have some problems with transfering or downloading some apps available in the Android Market, so you'll have to buy an SD card for $199 price tag to make the transition easier.
- we find here the same Sense UI's features the Desire and the Legend have. The latest version of HTC Sense makes the Incredible more usable and connected, more attractive and more enjoyable. As for the OS used, HTC added the latest and competitive Android 2.1 and made some improvements regarding the process looking pretty much more iPhone-like. That makes the Droid Incredible faster and more efficient, designed to go through all the multi tasks.
- because most of you want to know about this part, the battery life is good, but not oustanding. If you compare it to the Nexus One, is a little bit worse. But this is a function of Android, and its capacity and freedom of running things in the background, as much anything else. So, you might get a little dissapointed of this part.
Calling this smartphone Incredible might be a little bit exaggerated, but, we admit it's an impressive handset.
