Samsung Galaxy at Bell for $99.95 Posted on: December 10, 2009
Well actually it is $99.95 on a 3-year contract. For those that don't want to sign such a long term commitment the Galaxy is available at alot higher prices: $299.95 for 2 year agreement, $399.95 for 1 year and $449.95 without contract.
The phone itself has above average specs, the 3.2 inch OLED stands out, being the first (and only atm) Android phone to have one. Another unique feature is the 8GB of internal memory, while most Android phones in its generation only offer microSD cards. Of course Samsung Galaxy has a microSD slot too, which can bring the total memory to 40 GB.
The camera is also above average for a 2009 phone: 5MP AF, LED flash and video recording. Combined with a 1500 mAh battery the Galaxy is a more than decent smartphone.
The only downside it that it comes with Android 1.5 and Samsung is renowned for not offering updates. Donno if Android OS will break this habbit or not, but the differences between 1.5 and 1.6 are not that big. 2.0 is another story but now there aren't alot of phones with it out there.
Also there were some complaints about build quality from the European early adopters, but let's hope they were isolated cases and Samsung fixed them in the six months the phone has been on the market.
