While Nexus One is getting the 2.2 Android OS and other phones still wait for this update, everybody is focusing the attention on the further Android OS version 3.0, codenamed Gingerbread. According to the Russian website, it is expected to be launched in the fourth quarter this year and will be for high-end devices only.
If you got bored of the 2.2 version, it is time to move on on the next level. Here comes the Gingerbread. The Russian guy, Eldar Murtazin, offers details about the coming of this platform who's getting a revamped UI and minimum hardware requirements for the smartphones will be imposed: a 1 GHz CPU and 512 MB RAM plus a touchscreen over 3.5-inches in diagonal.
There is also said to be a new 1280x760 resolution for devices with 4-inch display and even bigger. The iPad has actually 1024-by-768-pixel, the other tablets average around 800x400, so the next generation of Android tablets will be the main target.
Android 3.0 is expected to come in mid October and the first lucky phone to get this version to be the Nexus One, the only device to fulfilll these requirements. We'll let you know as soon as fresh news came out.
